My name is Simon & I live near Maguez. I moved to Lanz from the UK last summer ‘20. I have a Casa close to Maguez/Arrieta area. I am looking for friends to socialise with who can help me learn a little Spanish as my language needs some improvement.

I like being outdoors, active, swim & enjoy good food & a glass of wine. I enjoy music & many other things too. I visit other areas of the island too, so happy to travel to meet.Costa Teguise, PDC areas frequently. Playa Blanca less so.

I’d like to hear from you if your English/Spanish is good to help me learn a little more.

Thanks for reading & happy to hear any of your suggestions for meeting friendly m/f on the island.

Un saludo

Simon

Hi Simon

I am a member of a swimming group called the Lanzarote Bluetits.  We swim every Sunday morning at different beaches, usually from Punta Mujeres down to Fariones.  Do look us up on fb.  We tend to speak English but there are some good Spanish speakers in the group.

I am also join an intercambio group on Monday and Friday evenings at 5pm at Dickens Bar in Costa.  We speak in English for 15 minutes and then in Spanish for 15 mins rotating. There are more Spanish speakers in the group than English and I am learning a lot from this group.

I hope this helps.

Hi Debs

Thanks for your very informative message. I don’t use use fb but have looked up Bluetits online, so I think I get the idea.

I am always up for a swim, as I used to be a lifeguard a long time ago. Confident swimmer. Is there a mix of male/female members & if so how would I join, being a non fb user?

Sorry lots of Q’s & hope you may be able to help?

I message locally using either UK number WhatsApp or email.

Where are your swims in the coming weeks to come & meet?

Many thanks again

Kind regards

Simon

Hi again Simon

I am glad you found my message helpful.

We have both guys and girls in the Bluetits.  We are meeting at 10.30 on Sunday at Jabillo Beach in Costa Teg this Sunday, then we will be going to brunch afterwards at the Plaza Bar, or similar.  It's a nice group with a lovely mix of people.  We decide where to go the next week at brunch!  My number is:  676 096 877, whatsapp me and I will be able to update you of future swims, if you can't make this one.

Speak soon.

Hi Simon

We live in Haria very near Maguez, and are English, but I speak good Spanish, Tony is learning. In our 60s and always keen to make new friends locally. I'm in London right now but back 18 August. If you fancy meeting for a drink let us know. We've had our place about 5 years, and enjoy drinking, eating (both veg fish eating), garden stuff, and are sociable types. We also do the beach cleaning events with Limpia Lanzarote regularly. If you wanna get in touch after 18 August, send a message.

Hi Simon

My husband Matt & I live in Mala, near the Cantina. If you ever want to meet up for a drink there, let me know.

We bought our house here almost 4 years ago, and love it. Matt is a professional chef so he's very knowledgeable about the local cuisine and the best places to eat out. And we both enjoy the outdoors...him cycling and me walking.

I'm learning Spanish, and we have a lovely woman from mainland Spain living with us who is helping me out. And I also have another friend from the village who is keen to learn english with a native english speaker.

All the best

Becky

Hi Becky & Matt, Jane & I live up in Maguez & have friends in Mala, Arrieta & Punta M.
We would love to meet up sometime. We are very slowly picking up Spanish & anything to speed up the process would be good.

Love to socialise, good food & wine & generally enjoy the outdoors & the good weather.

We both use UK WhatsApp if you’d like to exchange messages

Good to hear from you. Simon & Jane
