Try the usual powder sprays from the garden centres and if it persists we signed up to a company for 120 Euro er year that comes out to spray whenever you have a problem regards

Thank you for the reply. I think that may be our next step if it persists, but it seems to be a common problem in Nazaret/Teguise.

It´s a common problem.  When we first moved here we had ants in the kitchen.  If we left the smallest of crumb on the worktop they were there in a flash!  I tried all sorts of powders and sprays however, the only thing that seems to work is one of the small electronic plug in devices from the Ferreterias (specifically for ants) and then I add KH7 Insecticida Fregasuelos Profesional Elimina al Instante to the solution I use to mop the floors.  It has a lavender smell so quite pleasant.  I also put a weak solution of this into a small spray bottle and clean my work surfaces and walls with it.  Again you can get this from your local Ferreteria in either a small bottle or I get the large 5ltr container.  I haven´t had any ants in the house for over 2 years. Good luck!

Back in the UK but looking forward to our next visit – soon .

Same problem here , with the very hot weather attracting the ants into the kitchen.

Hygiene is important , not to leave any crumbs about.

Washing all the surfaces with strong bleach at the end of the day seems to do the job .

When in Lanzarote I use bleach in the bucket for cleaning hard floor and patio surfaces .

Seems to work well – certainly better than nothing .
