Hello, I am moving out to Tias this summer from the UK.

I have just found this forum and I am hoping for some help...?

I am looking for a recommended Dentist for myself and my young children (5) and my husband.

I hope to find a kind gentle dentist that speaks English and is understanding.   I am apprehensive about dental work (aren't we all?) I have complex dental treatment needs.  I am apprehensive of changing my dentist, but of course I will need to.

My children are just young and at the start of life so would require a kind person to continue their dental healthcare journey in a positive way. :)

I am currently a member of Denplan and I am happy to pay for my continuing treatments of course on an insurance basis, the main thing is to have excellent dental care.  I have had brutal treatment in the past.  Advice on medical and dental insurance would be helpful.

Any advice on how I can register my children of 5 years old too? I am not sure how the health / dental system works in Lanzarote.  Also, my husband is of retirement age...?

Also a family doctor to register with please.  Again, I am happy to register and pay privately.

Thank you for your help, 1st post on here.  :)

I have had dental treatment in Germany, England and now in Spain Lanzarote, and I can honestly say I never have had such a caring and gentle Dentist as now in Tias . His name is Dr. Adnan Kaiserimam of  The London Dental Clinic , I believe he practiced many years in Bristol. The clinics address is: Calle Libertad 44, Tias , Lanzarote.

His Tel.is 928 834016, Email: [email protected]  If you like you can mention my name = Peter from La Asomada.

Thank you Peter, that is very helpful and reassuring.  Have you any similar advice for us and a Doctor? Joanne.

Dear Joanne,

Sadly no, because I have a private Spanish health insurance and mostly use the Hospiten in  Puerto del Carmen for check-ups. But if you have become resident in Tias you could try the Centro de Salud in Tias ( Spanish National Health). They are very helpful and you will find that the Spanish Health Service is excellent. I was treated for a detached Retina at Dr. Negrin Hospital in Las Palmas for one week all on the Spanish National Service and the Treatment was better than at a 5 Star Hotel. No comparison to the Wellington Clinic in London where I was treated privately through BUPA.All the best and Good Luck.

Peter,

I am happy to pay for the Private Spanish Health Insurance.  Any recommendations?  How / where do I get this please.

I do treat my health carefully now after having a couple of scares in the last 2 years, I would rather pay for peace of mind, so, any help / advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Joanne.

Dear Joanne,

I would go to the HOSPITEN a private hospital which you find on the way from Puerto del Carmen to Tias next to the Golf course. Tel : 0034 928 596100 They speak English but you do not need to make an appointment. I am sure they will explain how to get private health and which company would be best for you to use. It is a good clinic and there are several Doctors and the clinic is well equipped. I have been going there for the last 15 years, but I also have a National Health Dr. at the Centro de Salud in Tias. If you live in Puerto del Carmen and you want National Health service you need to go to the health center next to the Oficina de Correo (Post office) in Puerto del Carmen. I live in La Asomada so I need to go to Tias. Good Luck, Peter
