Good afternoon - My wife and I (38 and 36) have been to Lanzarote 30 odd times on holiday (got back 4 weeks ago and go again in September). We want to move over full time with our 7 year old daughter but aren't sure if we're just being to excitable and it's unrealistic. I'm an electrician by trade and now manager a team of 16, my wife is a manager of a care service. We'd sell our house in the uk and would have about 140k equity to start life in Lanzarote. Any advice greatly appreciated. Got a few questions if possible.

1. Are jobs hard to currently get? (We'd both do any type of job)

2. Do we need to speak Spanish?

3. Would a 7 year old from the UK fit in at school?

4. Would we better off renting first then maybe trying to buy at a later date?

...I could go on and on but don't really know where to start and what to ask, it's all so confusing and exciting.

Hi

If you are UK passport holders , it is not straight forward now we are not in the EU

Suggest you make contact with Lydia https://lanzarotelivingconsultancy.com/

She can explain better in a 30 minute session

Hi There

I'm Kim I do translations and paperwork's etc.. I'm hoping I can help you. In answer to your questions..

1. Are jobs hard to currently get? (We'd both do any type of job) depends on the kind of job, for your wife contacting Hospiten & the care agencies in Lanzarote would be wise: there are several Las Amigas 0034675151572 , Starlight Care Services - T: 0034 636 582 076, Helen's Home healthcare service [email protected], CuralVital Whatsapp: (+34) 682 000 788, plus the ayuntamiento's (town halls that employ carers for a start.

For yourself - apply to local complexes that rent as maintenance is often needed & the electrics here are well rather unique plus the watts 220 not 240 like the UK. Plus you can get known by talking in the bars, places to advertise would be the gazettelive and Viva magazInes on the island.

2. Do we need to speak Spanish? Is would be helpful to you - to come over with a smattering of Spanish to understand & be understood with. If you wanted lessons I could arrange it easily over whasapp to get you started with (if you wanted)

3. Would a 7 year old from the UK fit in at school? Yes but she would definitely need to speak Spanish and there are private English schools to start off with .

4. Would we better off renting first then maybe trying to buy at a later date? Renting a 2 bed would basically be 600-1000€ most months. Estar agents will rent with a contract - which you would need to get NIE numbers to work with. You will also need a Spanish bank account asap..

Hope that helps a bit.

Good luck
