90 days in any 180 day period. So in effect 6 months but that includes almost all eu countries you visit in that 180 days otherwise you have to apply for residency

Join the Brexit and Canaries group on fb for all up to date information and official government documents. You won’t get this here.

But no, owning a villa does NOT change the 90 days out of 180 days Schengen rule.

good luck! Do a lot of research!!

Well then I advice you to look at all

Gov.uk

BOE

BOC

Websites regarding U.K. as a non-EU third country

Talk to immigration solicitor

Decide on whether you want residencia.

finally if you plan to work there as a non-EUcitizen, try to find a job cuz you need a work visa

I honestly think if you are at ground zero on this in February, don’t plan to be buying and moving in June. Don’t think you’ll be allowed in anyway , coming from a non-EU country with v high Covid! Good luck.

Sue if it was only that easy

There's different rules for holiday home & permanent residency

How to be a tax resident

Golden Visa

Non lucrative visa

Savings

NIE card before we can even buy

Looks like it can take up to 5yrs to get residency

Then there's spanish tax on private pensions etc

Its a mine field and will put lots of people buying in Spain

Even the tax on renting out has gone up from 19% to 24

The Spanish are now applying a tax for furniture you bring from the UK they are saying that we have to prove its ours

Yes. I’m still waiting  to hear one good outcome to Brexit . Luckily for me, the only impact is the 90/180 rule and taxes going up, which is pretty minimal impact!

Just so you know, these new rules aren’t FOR us. It’s just brexit

Hi,

Don’t be put off: taxes were always charged for shipping furniture. Residency rules always required health care, property ownership, and or cash in a bank. Getting into the system was greatly helped by estate agents, who are keen to get sales, and local lawyers, who are keen for money! We started with buying from an experienced and reputable agent. Everything fell into place. We haven’t looked back in 4 years so good luck. Finally bear in mind the Spanish government is desperate for your money as they are in trouble financially I believe so you should be assisted further later as many of the Brexit scare stories have been debunked already. Do get your COVID jab in the UK first if you want one as they are way ahead of here.

Hi- we just purchased in playa Honda. Saw various properties on many local websites and got in touch with a property agent in September and managed a viewingvtrip a week or so later

Offer was accepted in October and completion the day before final Brexit extension. We intend spending up to 6 months over the full year, so I’m not sure if residency is necessary for us

Get a good English speaking lawyer who is Spanish I can send names of required. Also as mentioned, we used a property agent to go and view any property and advise us on the area   When we went over to view, she organised everything for us eg Lawyer and bank - even took us visiting furniture shops, sorting out our remote access alarm and is our key holder and now running our refurbishment whilst we are stuck here. It makes all the difference and are trustworthy. I can’t see us travelling over before June simply down to restrictions   Let me know if you need any help and best of luck
