Hi Everybody,

Just a quick one for you. I'm trying to find out if there is a shortage of long term rental accommodation for people that work in the bars and restaurants  in the Playa Blanca area. Iv heard a few comments from a few people, but cant find anything concrete to go on. I know this is a fairly random question, but I'm looking for as much information as I can get, as I have a business idea that may or may not work depending on the demand for reasonably priced long term rental.

Thanks in advance

Daragh.

There was an article in La Voz a couple of weeks ago saying that many hotel workers were finding it very difficult to find apartments on a short or long term let. It was also backed up by the hotel owners. The article did highlight the area of Playa Blanca, maybe have a look for it.

We have spoken to a few people that work on the island and they said they are really struggling to find short and long term let's since covid.

It seems people that own villas want holiday rentals more because they bring in more money.

Also you can't always guarantee the rent on time sadly with workers. Not due to them, but due to their work not paying on time etc. These are conversations we have had we people working here.

Kind regards

Catherine

Hi Daragh,

We moved to Playa Blanca in 2021 and were fortunate to get a long term rental for 12 months while we looked for somewhere to buy. There were very few available and that still seems to be the case. I was talking to a restaurant owner a few weeks ago who said one of his staff was struggling to find somewhere to rent. As others have said, more owners are going for short term holiday lets instead. Have a look on Idealista website for rentals. There probably won’t be many.

Hope this is of some use to you.

David.
