Hi there, hoping to find a simple solution here. I'm about to spend a month on Lanzarote (with the idea to go back again and again throughout the year). Very few rental villas have high speed broadband, yet I'll be working remotely from Lanzarote most of my time there. For my work, I need high speed broadband for support VPN and video calls. Any simple solution without getting fibre connected to the house or having long term contracts? Thank you for your help!

Hi,

I was in a similar position. I purchased a pay as you go mobile broadband dongle. €20 gets you 35gb of data. Speeds are good enough to support video meetings. This has worked for me so far as we are there for 1-2 weeks at a time and fibre not feasible .

Thank you for your response! However I am unablemto plus in a d'ongle into the laptop. But I'm told I can buy a wireless modem that will connect to 4g or 5g and I can connect the laptop to this wirelessly, as if I was connecting to any house wifi. I'll di some digging, but if you do know about this, would bebvery happy to hear about how to go about it. Thank you again :)

Sorry, I should have said modem instead of dongle in my other post.  We bought a MiFi modem. There are a lot of providers selling them, I went with Orange and it’s working fine for us and it’s easy enough to top up on line.

Hi

Hopefully I'm responding to Steph77 & John???  I arrive in Lanzarote tomorrow.  Can these modems be purchased in Lanzarote?  If so, where?  Also, I was going to try hotspot/tethering.  Any advice??  Cheers all, Claire :-)

Hi Claire,

Yes, I bought mine in Arrecife but I am sure any broadband/mobile phone provider on the island will sell them.
