My partner and I had a brilliant week in playa blanca at the end of October, flying home on the 27th. The Airport was very busy with several flights delayed. The upshot is that we were rushed onto the plane and our UK passports were not stamped on exit despite me asking the immigration officer on duty, as a result I am now concerned that travelling back to Lanzarote or any other EU country for that matter might be problematical. Anyone else on this forum had a similar experience or know what to do to prove that we haven’t overstated the 90 days. Thankyou, Paul

Hi

Keep a copy of flight booking and boarding pass

Also keep a record of of your days in and out of the Schengen zone during the next 180 days as you are allowed 90 days in any 180

Hi Paul,

Just keep a record of your time in Lanzarote, flight ticket is good. To be fair the EU is in a shambles over this 180 day thing. They have spent millions on a system that continues to fail in many countries, who knows when they are implementing it. Some even say they will abandon it for UK citizens. Thousands have not had passports stamped and I heard of no following problems. We fly in and out of Europe regularly and no official has ever attempted to count days using our passports, not even looking at them on occasions.

I hope this reassures you and you don’t worry about coming back to Lanzarote.

Thankyou very much for your reply, has given me some piece of mind.  Unfortunately I destroyed my e ticket and boarding passes before it occurred to me that this might be a problem. I do have the boarding passes saved as photos on my phone and am in touch with the travel agent regarding the rest of the paperwork. Potentially off to Berlin in the New Year hence the concern. Once again Thankyou very much for your reply, I am certainly aiming to be in Lanzarote again at least once in 2025.

Thankyou very much for your reply. I will reprint my boarding passes and try and get a copy of the original booking as I destroyed the previous copies before I realised this might be an issue.

Thankyou for this. Before I realised the issue the non stamping could cause I had torn up the boarding passes, luckily I had screen shot them so have now printed them off again. Hopefully all will be ok next time I travel to Europe.

This happened to us on departure end of November,  this information is great and puts me more at ease for future travel.

I e mailed an EU department for travel , their response was “ that every EU country is complying with the EU directive and are stamping passports !!! 🤔 I have since spoken to my travel agent ( Hays travel ) who raised the issue with TUI , I now have a letter from TUI confirming that my partner and I were on the returning flight from Lanzarote. Hope this may be of use to you as well.

I flew with Ryanair so unlikely they wiull be as helpful as Hays!.  I have a copy of the travel booking, electronic boarding passes and luggage tags so hopeful this will suffice if we are questioned
