Hi all,

Thank you for your excellent help. We feel better informed now and will be able to make an informed decision on the way forward. Playa Blanca is our happy safe place and with my wife’s arthritis virtually disappearing when we are there the pull is very strong. Again thank you all for your responses and advice.

Laurie,

I KNOW THIS ISNT MY THREAD HEHE

Thank you so so much, that's truly helpful. Me and my partner are planning also to live in Playa Blanca full time in a few years. So this is extremely helpful. We already have a place on Faro Park and come out as often as we can. 😁🥰

The Military permit has been around for over 40 years but eu members were exempt and it then came in immediately after the Brexit deadline for Uk buyers   We just missed the need to go through the process and to be honest our lawyer wasn’t expecting it to be raised but we found out it really only is required for buying property in rural areas where military action may be operational and not required for buyers looking to purchase in heavily urbanised areas or townships like the main resorts or coastal towns
Your lawyer will go through this with you   It is there simply to protect military bases from intrusive and unwanted interest. It’s a bit like a police report to check if your an undesirable 😄 but in all probability you won’t need to apply for the permit

You might need one if ur property is near or on military/land/bases

Also belive there's a few villas on faro Park that are illegal builds

Hi,

We have been looking at a move to Lanzarote, Playa Blanca in particular. We are now retired and in a position that we could now realise our dream. The main reason we are holding back is because of the number of expats that are leaving and heading back to the UK. We were in Playa Blanca just befor...

...e Christmas and spoke to a few residents who all advised us to wait a while and when asked why Brexit was blamed. Is this a widely considered thing or did we just meet the wrong people. We love the  island and the people and would loved to have moved there along we are dog Max, but don’t want to jump from the frying pan into the fire.

Honest opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning Kenp54 I hope all is well with you and yours.

I do wonder if it was just a case of the people you were talking to, that said, in my experience it isn't uncommon for people to stay on the island for a period of time {5 years, 10 years, whatever} before coming back to the UK.

These sort of things go in cycles, I would talk to Stephanie at Clarity to understand the post-brexit pitfalls.

The Island is still there in all it's wonder with or without the % of people being from UK, Ireland etc being particularly high or low at the moment.

I think that Spain, the Canaries are still keen to welcome Brits {and their money !} and are trying to make is as easy as possible to move there.

Good luck with the move !

Hi Panama,

Thank you for your response. Lanzarote is our safe place, it always feels that we have come home whenever we arrive at the airport. Unfortunately at this time we wouldn’t qualify for residency due to our income not meeting the requirements but we live in hope. This will not stop us. We are looking at renting for upto 90day periods for now, hopefully we can bring our dog with us. Hopefully we can meet up with you great people who have given us some of your time.

We are in pb for March will be looking at apartments and will buy as there's bargains at the moment

We can get the non lucrative visa

I think the 90 day rule will change then prices will rocket
