Hi,

Arriving on February 9 and I’d like to rent a gents bike for four weeks or, if price is right, I’d be willing to consider buying bike.

Please get in touch if you think you might be able to help.

Hi, I was in your position last year and contacted a few bike hire companies. There is some seriously good riding out there, depending on your level of fitness you will find it expensive to hire for a month.

Looking to pick up second hand will save you money but you need to consider the condition / maintenance. If you just want to tootle along the prom most bikes can cope with that. However if you want to do more then you need to go to a good dealer hire shop.

Most are good but I can only recommend Revolutions. They sold us two bikes which were end of season stock. Superbly maintained at reasonable rates. We did a lot of hard miles over 5 weeks and never once did they let us down.

So pleases with them, we PAID the  £45 each to bring them home.

Hi SteveH,

Thanks for this info. It’s very helpful.

I don’t do long runs, but I like to use bike to get around and sometimes to go out for afternoon run.

I’ve previously rented, but found it expensive for the four weeks, hence reason I hoped to pick up a second-hand bike this time.

Looked at ex-rentals, but appeared to be mostly road bikes.

Hi Steve,

How did you get the bikes home?

Worth checking buy and sell when you get there and walk into the less pro bike shops who may well negotiate a deal. We bought Specilized Sirrus hybrid bikes from Revolutions.

Good luck and have a great time in Lanzarote.

I added them to my flight luggage under sports equipment. You need to read up on the size and weight then go to a bike shop and ask if they have a bike box (their new bikes are delivered in a cardboard box) Use that as a cheap way or buy a bike carrier if you think you will use it.

Hi Steve,

Got a bike from Revolution, as you suggested. Like you, though, I now don’t want to leave it behind.

I’ll follow your advice re transporting home.

Thanks again.

That's great, in that case Mandy & Dominic might help you out with the box and packaging.

Just remember when you transfer to the airport your taxi needs to fit a bike box in.
