Northern Lanzarote?

I wonder if anyone can give me some pointers about, probably, the towns of Northern Lanzarote but who knows maybe anywhere else on Lanzarote. We are coming over soon to have a proper tour around the island to look at potential places to settle, but it’s easier when there is somewhere to aim for!!  We would ideally like to live in a nice bungalow, within 10 minutes walk of the sea, preferably with a beach but at least accessible to swim. Within walking distance of shops and bars and restaurants. A proper local market each week would be the icing on the cake. This is why we initially thought Playa Blanca. But I’m wondering if a more ‘locals’ and less touristy town exists that meets this criteria?
