Hi I opened an account with Bankia in Arrecife without too much trouble when I first arrived. My friend who had a complicated situation received good advise from a gentleman in Bankia's Playa Blanca branch, who spoke very good English. I believe you now must have an NIE before you can apply for a bank account. If you want any help with that contact me by email and I can talk you through that. jorotaylor@live.co.uk. Good luck. John

Sorry I can't recommend one but I can tell you one to stay away from. Caixabank charges are outrageous.

Back in 2018 I bought a property in Puerto Del Carmen. I transferred €125,000 from my bank in Ireland. My own bank charged me zero, Caixabank charged €250.00 to accept the transfer.

Where ever you decide to open make sure you ask what the fees are to transfer fund from outside the country.
