Tips on Driving to Lanzarote

Hi all, I'm new to this forum but can't see this question having been asked before.

My wife and I will be moving to Playa Blanca this year and we're seeking residency now (as we owned pre-Brexit, we're using the easier rules) . I'm wondering if anyone has experience of driving a car to Lanzarote from the UK and could advise a few hints and tips from their experience please?  Have seen a few cars on UK plates there.  Please include approx. costs and time taken etc.  

Trying to weigh up if it's best doing that or shipping my LHD car over (aware of the most of the rules, but not up-to-speed on local insurance and  how imported cars subsequently get taxed - I guess annually linked to the ITV?).  Also read there's one ferry a week (Sat.?) from Cadiz to Lanzarote and that one there, I'd have to register the car within 3 months (or export), and get a Spanish driving licence.
