Hi, Does anybody know what the new criteria is for obtaining residency in Lanzarote as I didn't have all the required paperwork to apply before 31st December.

Any recommendations as to who can help with this?

Thank you.

Hi Ashley,

I’m no expert on this but my understanding is if you are already in Lanzarote then providing you can show you were resident before 31 December (ie with utility bills, padron, house deeds / rental contract) you still have time.

I can’t do that so I will have to apply for a visa and the process is not only lengthy with all the paperwork needed but also costly. £516 for UK citizens! And you have to apply in the UK at the Spanish consulate.

Here’s a link

So if you can, don’t hang about and apply for your residence card.
