We'll soon by spending a lot more time in Playa Honda and I'll be working remotely. What are the best options for getting reliable internet for our house? We stayed in an apartment recently and it had a plug-in WiFi router which is being sold by the electrical store upstairs in Deiland. Any good? Any local suppliers you can recommend and rough cost? Thank you.

The wifi router will require a SIM card to connect to the internet.

Orange shops have routers with a SIM card to connect to their system.  One year contract with unlimited download for about €40 per month.

The Orange signal is affected by your location on the island.

We have fibre Internet in Teguise so I would assume it is also available in Honda. Cost is ~30 euro per month with Movistar

Get fibre if you can from Movistar, if not try Telecolanza in Tias.  Check their web site for their latest offers.

Hi we stay in Playa Honda and after our first attempts 3 years ago where the provider put in a sat dish for 35€ a month we laterally found we already had fibre into our apartment. We are not in a community but the whole street had been upgraded prior to us purchasing. The provider obviously knew this as the fibre socket was obvious if you knew what they looked like - as newbies we kind of took their advice. Once we knew we let the 12 month contract run its course then moved to Jazztel.com for 26.48€ per month.  A great service with no outages or buffering, and more  discreet being hard wired to your house

That's great advice. Thanks. What does the fibre optic box look like inside? I'll try and find it. Did you call Jazztel or is there a shop. Our Spanish, at this stage is elementary.

Hi. We’re in the UK at present so I can’t send an image. But I recall it to be about the size of a Uk single socket with a solid faceplate and coming out of the bottom edge is a threaded connector almost like a BNC Ariel fitting. I’ll send an image from Google similar to mine. The provider will fit a switch and a modem for you which will give you both WiFi and Cat5 cable connections  we had the socket in place it may be a different issue if it’s not into your building   I can really advise you on that as I would imagine unless it’s in your building somewhere then your talking about roads getting dig up  as the question anyway to the provider giving your address and postcode

. Jazztel  offer 600mb or 1 gb at present. You can get them online at Jazztel.com   Don’t worry about your Spanish they will have operators who are multi lingual. Just Start your email off with ¿Hablas inglés?  And then ask if you can place an order for fibre. (Don’t go for phone lines or anything other than the fibre ) once you are through they will pass it on to a suitable helper

I just went on line and ordered it online and they emailed me back.
