Why would we/guests be asked not to feed stray cats?

When I was in feurfentura (spell check lol) yrs ago their wer cat cafés everywhere, that u could buy catfd/cans of tuna 'n put it in the special cat tents ⛺ would luv 2 know if any around puerto de carmen? Wev been asked at apartments not to interact/feed them? see below a foto of a very Happy healthy looking stray I met 2day/adorable (I see some kind person had left out fresh biks/water 😊
