We are due to travel to Lanzarote next week but are becoming increasingly concerned about the impact of the continuing volcanic eruptions on the island of La Palma. I know it’s about 200 miles west of Lanzarote, but ash clouds caused by eruptions can cause havoc over vast areas, especially to air travel, as we still remember from the recent Icelandic eruptions.

Can anyone please advise how serious the situation is.

Hi

If I was you I would not get increasingly concerned - no flights have been cancelled , there is no news saying there is any likelihood of any flight cancellations

The weather is wonderful

Enjoy your holiday

I have been twice recently for short breaks, weather has been gorgeous no problems on that front.

Hi, I understand your concern, however the wind is taking the ash cloud away from us.  The only real possibility of there being a problem is for the wind to change and to be very strong.  It is really unlikely.  I wouldn't be too concerned, come over and enjoy a wonderful holiday.  By helping to put money into the Canarian system you will be helping the Islands to recover from this and other terrible situations that have happened since Covid.
