What are the costs of importing my car into lanzarote when we finally move there in April

Don't do it!
It will not only cost money, but the administration here will exhaust you, and cost you money
Buy a car here, and on Spanish plates at once😀.

I second completely what Lucas advises. I looked into it a few years ago, so glad I bought local!

I looked into this before we moved to Lanzarote in 2022.
it depends on a lot of factors. I read up on all you could before committing to purchase a 1 year old left hand drive Jaguar and from this helpful forum (https://www.healthplanspain.com/blog/expat-tips/352-importing-a-car-or-other-vehicle-into-spain.html), prepared and understood everything.
I was lucky and just complied with the 6 months ownership requirement and as imported due to moving personal goods, I didn’t have to pay import duties. I ran it on UK plates for nearly 6 months as allowed, having applied for the ITV 3 months in.
it can take a while. There are costs as others mention, but my experience was that it wasn’t too bad (had more trouble trying to find someone to clear the OBD error codes for the ITV on such a new model).
There is a helpful chap called Guy who can help on all matters of moving and registering yourself and advice on cars etc. I don’t have his contact details. Another who may be able to help is Lydia at Lanzarote Living Consultancy (www.lanzarotelivingconsultancy.com. Can help with driving licences (tick), residency (tick) and maybe car imports too.
(I take it from your profile pics you have cats too. We bought ours over as well).
Hope this helps and food luck. PM me if you need more.

Hello again, you will be able to obtain a CoC if the XK is later than ‘97 and this will help ease local inspection and registration. Contact Jaguar Customer Service and ask (they may charge for it, not sure). If right hand drive, check handbook but I think your car has beam converters for EU driving, a simple lever to flatten the uptick on the beam. Depending on year, check you have two rear fogs as you will need one on the left. Speedo is dual calibrated so would be OK. You need to decide if driving or shipping over and make sure it is classed as personal goods for your permanent move. I had help with paperwork clearing customs by my movers. Otherwise I think you’re good if a later XK, if no CoC, see below.
Should be similar for the A-Class but I don’t know them well. They may have a CoC with the car from new I understand, if the year is good. (I know Jaguars because I did Type Approval; V8 XJ and ‘97 on XK have CoC’s). Otherwise, no CoC means a technical inspection required which can cost @ 1500 + VAT Euro. plus ITV (@ 100), plus duties if not personal goods and couple of hundred Euro for registration etc.
Make certain you are UK taxed and have insurance cover for Lanzarote on both cars.
So, costly if not personal goods and only worth brining if sentimental value or rare. You’ll also be right hand drive which is a bit of hinderance and note when changing from English plates to Spanish, insurance starts again - ask first!
Hope this helps and good luck.
