90 days or Visa??

We are planning on moving to Lanzarote. Possibly Playa Blanca but open to other areas as long as we are near restaurants and the sea. But we wondered is it possible to come out to Lanzarote for up to 90 days to find and possibly purchase our home and then return to the UK (or even not return??) and apply for a non- lucrative visa?  We think we have to be in the UK to apply for the non-lucrative visa??

The flip side is applying for the visa but when we get out there we wouldn’t have a permanent address until we bought somewhere?

How does everyone do it?  Which way round?

Exciting times! You can stay for up to 90 days while looking for somewhere suitable. Steph at Clarity Consulting mentioned a loophole that then allowed you to apply for your residency without returning to the UK but I am not sure if this is still a possibility. It would make things easier for many planning to move. By getting your Visa you will have already been through the process of proving funds, criminal records check, etc. which then makes the application for residency more straightforward? Looking forward to reading the replies you receive. Wishing you a great sunny future :)

Thanks Loopy T!!  I took your advice last time I posted something and got in touch with Steph at Clarity Consulting who has been really helpful. She has sent me some documents that give good advice on what we need to do. I don’t like asking her too many questions, hence my question on her!  Although I will use her when I can as she really knows what she is talking about. I thought this was a more ‘practical’ question, ie what does everybody else do?

It is exciting, and only yesterday I was talking to someone who had moved back to the UK after spending 16 years in Spain. He said it had been fab. I couldn’t really understand why he had come back here. I asked him if he was mad 😂🤣

I’ve been learning Spanish so tried it out on him, only to be disappointed when he said he could only order 2 beers 😩😱

Thanks for your support. I hope I hear others’ experiences.
