We completed our purchase this year.

Used Currencies Direct for transferring over 500K from my uk bank to the Spanish account.

Saved a fortune and it was really easy. Others recommend Wise.

That is what I did with a similar sum, but once in the Spanish bank, Bankia (now Caixabank) charged me 1047 euros to write a cheque to pay for the house!

Wow, I think our “big cheque” was about 12€, also Caixa, possibly because we were cash buyers but the previous owners had a Caixa mortgage.

We did take out buildings insurance through the bank too which might have helped? But despite the many moans and groans on all the forums about Spanish banks we’ve always had really good service here in Playa Honda from Caixa. Yes I’m sure we could have saved a few bucks getting different health and building cover but tbh it’s been really worth it, I had a health emergency last year involving a 10 day stay in hospital in Gran Canaria and everything was sorted with no fuss or additpayment whatsoever.
