Good Evening, I'm currently living in Scotland and looking to retire in lanzarote, can anyone please give me any advice on how easy this process is regarding buying a property and obtaining visas etc

Thanks Alan

Good morning - it’s difficult opening a bank account unfortunately very time consuming exercise   Still to apply for visas I’m told that’s also a nightmare- I’m considering employing a professional

Good luck!

Hi Alan. When my husband and I moved to PB we were told to contact the realestates agents that interested us. When we found the house that we wanted, the woman made an appointment with a lawyer and solicitors firm. They took care of all the rest and gave us all info that was neccessary. these are a bit costly but it's worth it. They will guide you through all hassles. Be careful in los colorados - many houses were built without permit. We decided to live in a community. They take care of all repairs outside the houses including the walls that constantly need repairs. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. We were always grateful for support when we moved here.

wish you luck, Margot

Hi Margot

Many thanks for you’re reply, it was very useful, we’ve been looking at west PB in faro park area, I have noticed that a few companies charge a fortune for doing the paperwork, did you move before or after brexit ? There seems to be a few loopholes with brexit but it’s changing constantly at the minute

Hi

We’re planning moving from Scotland so we have a few hurdles to get over with brexit, it’s just a matter of working through the list and we have plenty time as we’re not planning in moving for about 18 months, we’ve seen a few houses so just starting to get things in order

We opened a bank account  very easily.

And we've just bought a apartment

With good solicitors  and estate agent very easy we don't want a visa though

Hi Alan,

We moved to PB 2 years ago having gone through the whole visa process and residency renewal after 1 year. We rented for 12 months (very hard to get long term rentals though) and then we bought a house in the Faro Park area. I wrote a blog on everything if you are interested.

For houses look online at Rightmove - Playa Blanca and also Idealista. Beware that some houses have issues over licences and add-ons that don’t have permission.

Feel free to private message me if you want any further info.

Regards

David
