Hi Alan,

We moved to PB 2 years ago having gone through the whole visa process and residency renewal after 1 year. We rented for 12 months (very hard to get long term rentals though) and then we bought a house in the Faro Park area. I wrote a blog on everything if you are interested.

For houses look online at Rightmove - Playa Blanca and also Idealista. Beware that some houses have issues over licences and add-ons that don’t have permission.

Feel free to private message me if you want any further info.

Regards

David

Hi David,

Many thanks for you’re message, any help would be appreciated, I’m currently in the process of selling a rental in the UK which will enable us to buy but we are having difficulty evicting the tenants but hopefully they’ll be gone in 4 months, my wife likes the faro park area so that’s where we are looking but there doesn’t seem to be many available and the prize difference is huge between properties

Here’s a link to part 1 of my blog. Links to further posts can be found at the bottom right of each part. I’m currently up to part 14.

Property prices have really shot up in the last 2 years since we moved here and as you say there are not many around FP area. As well as the sites I mentioned have a look at Lanzarote Investments for property and Lanzvillasales (based at Faro Park). We didn’t buy through either of them but they were both helpful agents.

If you have anything specific to ask then feel free to private message me.

Regards

David

Hi, if you use an estate agent like lanzarote investments to sort visa, bank account, tie and anything else that’s needed what costs do they charge for doing this and can this be done whilst still living in UK

thanks

For the visa you have to apply in the UK to the Spanish consulate that covers your area. Once you’ve got the visa you get your TIE once you come to Spain. The visa itself costs £516 each person plus about £10 for the tax. The cost of getting the required documents, Apostille’d and translated, is around £250 per person. It’s easy enough to do yourself but there are agents who will help, for a fee. If you do Facebook, The group After Brexit in Spain is excellent for up to date advice on the process. In Lanzarote there are agents like Silvia Lanzarote Consultancy and Lanzarote Living Consultancy by Lydia Thain who can help.

Estate agents may help you open a bank account but it’s easy enough to just walk in and open one. Or you can look at online banks like N26. Also consider opening an account with a currency dealer or use one of the online money transfer agents like Wise or Revolut. They make it very easy, cheaper and good rates for exchanging currency.
